Modern endodontics

Root canal treatment is still one of the most often carried out procedures in dentistry. The basis of treatment is proper diagnosis (tomography) which shows the shape and number of root canals, the extension of periapical lesions. Then, doctors clear, widen and clean the root canals in order to fill them tightly with gutta percha.

In endodontic treatment we use the following devices:

  • VDW Raypex 5 endometer for examining the canal length
  • a microscope – operation with magnification is more precise, helps to remove the broken tools, clean the canals thoroughly
  • endomotor – allows for using mechanical files (e.g. Protaper Next), increasing the precision of root canal cleaning
  • SAF files – self-adjusting diamond-coated files are at present the tools which clean the root canal in the most precise manner
  • ultrasound files – for cleaning roots
